KJT - The Athlete
Katarina Johnson-Thompson (KJT) is regarded as Britain’s premier multi-event athlete, celebrated for her prowess both on the track and in the field. A four-time Olympian and Olympic silver medallist, KJT is also a two-time Commonwealth Champion, two-time World Champion, a World Indoor Champion, and two-time European Indoor Champion. Over the past decade, the current Heptathlon World Champion and British Record Holder has firmly established herself among the greatest all-around athletes in history.
KJT’s rise to global stardom began in 2012, when she made her Olympic debut at just 19, captivating the home crowd with a memorable performance at the London Olympics and finished in 13th place. Earlier that year, she won gold at the World Junior Championships in Barcelona, solidifying her place as a future star of athletics.
At 23, KJT took a pivotal step in her career by relocating from Liverpool to France in pursuit of greater success, a decision that led to numerous victories on the world stage. Under her new training regimen, she amassed multiple World, European, and Commonwealth medals, broke British records in the heptathlon and pentathlon, and set a World Record in the Heptathlon High Jump.
Now back in the UK and based in Loughborough with her coach Aston Moore, KJT’s time away from the track is spent with family, her dogs (Bronx and Chorizo), and fulfilling her love for wellbeing, fashion, and providing pathways for the next generation. A patron of the Barrie Wells Trust, ambassador of the LFC Foundation and founder and mentor for the KJT Academy, providing opportunities for positive change is in KJT’s DNA.
Focused on adding to her medal collection, KJT will look to defend her World Championship title at the 2025 World Championships in Japan, the 2026 Commonwealth Games and European Championships on UK soil, and the long-term goal of competing at her 5th Olympics in Los Angeles 2028.
